Five-party alliance will continue till upcoming elections: PM Deuba

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has said that the ruling alliance will continue until upcoming elections.

Speaking at a press conference on his arrival from his week-long UK visit, PM Deuba said that the five-party ruling alliance does not have any issues. 

Five-party allinace comprises the Nepali Congress (NC), CPN (Maoist Center), CPN (Unified Socialist), Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) and Rastriya Janamorcha (RJM).

On the occasion, he also shared that he had held fruitful talks with US President Joe Biden, British PM Boris Johnson and Indian PM Narendra Modi. 

He also took time to share that his Indian counterpart Modi will soon visit Nepal. 

On a different note, he said that the Millennium Challenge Compact will be endorsed from parliament. “The compact will be passed after forging consensus among the following parties. House session was prorogued for other reasons.”

Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba arrived at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) on Thursday after attending the 26th Conference of Parties (COP26) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) held in Glasgow of the United Kingdom on November 1-2. 

Deuba was received by Home Minister Bal Krishna Khand, Foreign Affairs Minister Narayan Khadka, Communication Minister Gyanendra Karki, Defence Minister Minendra Rijal and Nepali Congress Vice President Bimalendra Nidhi. 

Prime Minister Deuba had left for Glasgow on October 29 to attend the global conference leading a Nepali delegation. 

The PM-led delegation comprised Minister for Forest and Environment Ramsahaya Prasad Yadav, Foreign Secretary Bharat Raj Poudel, Forestry Secretary Dr Pem Narayan Poudel, Finance Secretary Madhu Kumar Marasini, Home Secretary Tek Narayan Pandey, National Planning Commission’s Secretary Kewal Prasad Bhandari and chairperson of National Trust for Nature Conservation Dr Madhav Bahadur Karki.
