NC urges to postpone Province 1’s assembly meeting

KATHMANDU, October 23: The ruling Nepali Congress (NC) has demanded postponement of the provincial assembly meeting of Province 1 scheduled for Sunday.

A provincial assembly meeting was called this afternoon following a proposal of Chief Minister Bhim Prasad Acharya to take a vote of confidence.

Earlier on Friday, CM Acharya presented a proposal for floor test in the provincial assembly meeting. Acharya, who was appointed CM of Province 1 representing CPN (UML) has lost his majority in the provincial assembly after the split of the party.

Acharya is likely to lose the vote of confidence as the opposition alliance holds strong ground in the province. NC cited that the party needs some more time to make necessary preparations.
