UML to skip provincial assembly meeting of Bagmati Province
KATHMANDU, October 21: The main opposition party CPN (UML) is all set to skip the provincial assembly meeting of Bagmati Province scheduled for Thursday.
UML has maintained that its lawmakers are busy in ward and municipal conventions so they won’t be able to attend the provincial assembly meeting which is scheduled for 1 PM today to discuss the trust vote of Chief Minister Asta Laxmi Shakya.
Deepak Niraula, chief whip of the party for Bagmati Province, registered an application at the Provincial Assembly Secretariat on Wednesday to postpone the meeting scheduled for today.
However, the Speaker of the Province Sanu Kumar Shrestha has not issued any notice so far regarding postponing the meeting.
The Chief Minister of the province Shakya is scheduled to take a vote of confidence as she has lost majority in the provincial assembly following the split of CPN (UML).
It is likely that a coalition government of Nepali Congress, CPN (Maoist Center), CPN (Unified Socialist), Janata Samajjbadi Party and Rastriya Janamorch Party will be formed in Bagmati Province.
