Bagmati CM Shakya to take trust vote today
KATHMANDU, October 10: Chief Minister of Bagmati Province Asta Laxmi Shakya is set to take a vote of confidence on Sunday.
Shakya, who was appointed CM of Bagmati Province on August 18 had lost her majority after the split of CPN (UML). Shakya has already registered a proposal for a floor test at the parliament secretariat on Friday.
It is likely that Shakya will lose the vote of confidence as the odds are against her in the Bagmati Provincial Assembly. There are currently 43 lawmakers of CPN (UML), 23 of CPN (Maoist Center), 22 of Nepali Congress, 13 of CPN (Unified Socialist), three of Bibeksheel Shaja Party, two each of Nepal Workers Peasant Party and Rastriya Prajatantra Party and one of Janata Samajbadi Party.
It is almost certain that a coalition government of CPN (Maoist Center), Nepali Congress, CPN (Unified Socialist) and Janata Samajbadi Party will form in the province. The new government in the province will be led by Rajendra Pandey, parliamentary party leader of the Unified Socialist.
Likewise, small parties in the province have announced they will stay neutral during the floor test.
