Province 2 CM Raut wins confidence motion

KATHMANDU: Chief Minister of Province 2, Lal Babu Raut won a confidence motion from the provincial assembly on Wednesday. 

Raut took the trust vote from the provincial assembly as per the constitutional provision as the ruling Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP) was split and a new party Democratic Socialist Party (DSP). 

Of the 100 members of the provincial assembly present during Wednesday’s meeting, 77 voted in favor of Raut while 23 others stood against him. 

Raut was voted for by Nepali Congress, CPN (Unified Socialist), CPN (Maoist Center) and JSP.
