Gladiators make it to second qualifier, will face Rhinos Thursday
KATHMANDU: Bhairahawa Gladiators have entered into the second qualifier of the ongoing edition of Everest Premier League being held in Kathmandu.
Beating Kathmandu Kings XI in the eliminator played on Wednesday by 16 runs, the Gladiators ensured their next encounter with Pokhara Rhinos.
Rhinos were beaten by Chitwan Tigers in the first qualifier held earlier on Wednesday itself.
Gladiators, after winning the toss, elected to bat first and set a target of 189 runs for the loss of eight wickets.
Gladiators skipper Sharad Vesawkar’s 49 runs, Pradeep Airee’s 39, Upul Tharanga’s 35 and Kushal Malla’s 32 helped the side to post a strong total.
Except for Ashan Priyajan’s 48, no other batsmen could contribute significantly for the Kings as they managed to score only 172 runs in the allotted 20 overs.
