Scrub typhus cases reach 45 in Baitadi
BAITADI, October 4: Scrub typhus cases are found increasing in Baitadi district. Among the patients coming to the District Hospital, Baitadi, scrub typhus infection is found in one or two patients daily, Hospital's information officer Harish Panta said. "Among the patients visiting the hospital for health examination, one or two patients have tested scrub typhus positive daily since some days," he said.
District Hospital Chief, Dr Basanta Raj Joshi said the risk of scrub typhus is increasing with cases of the infection being detected each day of late. "The Hospital has been testing for scrub typhus on every patient suffering from fever.
Some scrub typhus patients had to be hospitalized," he said, adding that its risk has increased with cases being detected on a daily basis. Mostly the patients of viral fever have been coming to the Hospital for treatment.
The Hospital information officer Panta said although the scrub typhus infection was only seen sporadically in previous years, the number of scrub typhus cases has increased this year. According to him, the number of scrub typhus patients in the district has reached 45 since mid-July till date. ---
