Biratnagar -Two journalists were honored on Tuesday here in Biratnagar to mark the occasion of the sixth anniversary of the establishment of Media Persons Media Cooperative Ltd.
Biratnagar Metropolitan City's Mayor, Bhim Parajuli, conferred the Chandralal – Durgadevi Dahal Award to Himalayan Television's correspondent, Uddav Ghimire. The Mina Shrestha Working Woman Journalist Award was conferred on Binu Timisina of Makalu Television.
Ghimire and Timsina received Rs 21,000 and Rs 10,000 in cash prizes respectively. On the occasion, Mayor Parajuli stressed on need for the journalists to focus more on investigative journalism.
Social worker, Dinbandu Goyal, took the opportunity to make an announcement of setting up an annual award with Rs 31,000 as cash prize for a journalist. He said a revolving fund would be established at the cooperative for the purpose.
