COVID-19: 7,664 recoveries 7,914 new cases, 193 deaths reported

KATHMANDU, May 23: Nepal recorded a total of 7,914 new cases of COVID-19 infection in the past 24 hours on Sunday, according to the Ministry of Health and Population. With this, the COVID-19 caseload has reached 513,241 in the country.

There are currently 115,547 active cases in the country while 391,348 have so far recovered.

Meanwhile,  7,664 patients recovered from the virus on Sunday taking the total number of recoveries to 391,348.

As many as 193 people, however,  succumbed to COVID-19 in the past 24 hours across the country. With this, the COVID-19 fatality in the country stands at 6,346. Nepal had reported the first fatality on May 16 last year.

Of the three districts in the Kathmandu Valley, where Nepal’s capital city lies, Kathmandu district recorded 1,761 new cases while 694 in Lalitpur and 366 in Bhaktapur district, according to the ministry.
