With 8,980 cases on Saturday, Nepal’s COVID-19 caseload goes past 500,000

KATHMANDU, May 22: Nepal has reported as many as 8,980 new cases of the novel coronavirus disease in the past 24 hours on Saturday. This has taken the overall number of confirmed cases of the fatal disease to 505,643. Nepal reported the first case in January last year.
Similarly, 8,980 more patients recovered in the past 24 hours taking the country’s recovery rate to 75.8 percent. At least 6,153 other people, however, have so far died of the disease including 129 on Saturday.
According to the Health Ministry, 115,806 people are undergoing treatment for the disease.
