Will PM Oli win House’s confidence today?

KATHMANDU, May 10: A vote on the trust motion is taking place in the House of Representatives this afternoon after Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has sought a vote of confidence.

The voting process, scheduled to begin after 1 PM, will decide whether the Oli government will survive or collapse. The equation in parliament so far indicates that Prime Minister Oli is likely to lose the vote of confidence.

While analyzing the numerical equation in parliament so far, the rulingUML has 121 votes, short of 15 to win the House’s trust. However, with the Janata Samajbadi Party deciding to remain neutral, the chances of the Prime Minister getting a vote of confidence are slim.

The lawmakers close to the Nepal-Khanal faction in the ruling party, are preparing to resign en masse. If the group resigns, KP Oli will not have a majority.
