Congress formally decides to fail PM Oli’s attempt to win parliament’s confidence
KATHMANDU, May 8: The main opposition Nepali Congress has decided to foil Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s attempt to garner a vote of confidence in the House of Representatives on May 10.
A meeting of the Congress parliamentary party on Saturday decided to vote against PM Oli and urged other parties not to vote either, according to the party’s Chief Whip Bal Krishna Khand. Khand also added that the meeting also endorsed the decision of the party's Central Working Committee (CWC) on April 3.
NC’s CWC on April 3 had decided to demand the resignation of PM Oli and take an initiative to form a new government under its own leadership. On Saturday morning, a discussion was held among the senior leaders of the party and the office bearers of the parliamentary party.
Deuba also briefed the lawmakers about the ongoing efforts to form a government. He said that the possibility of forming a government under his leadership has also increased.
