COVID-19 update: Nepal sees record-high of 7,660 new cases, 55 deaths on Tuesday

KATHMANDU, May 4: As many as 7,660 more people tested positive for the coronavirus disease in the last 24 hours, taking the country’s cumulative cases to 351,005.

This is the highest single-day surge ever since the country reported the first case in January last year.

The country also confirmed the record-high fatalities in the past 24 hours as 55 more people succumbed to the deadly virus during the period. This has taken the country’s death tally to 3,417. Nepal had confirmed the first death on May 16, 2020.

Meanwhile, the Kathmandu Valley witnessed as many as 3,839 cases on Tuesday alone.
