NC Prez Deuba ready to file no-confidence motion against PM Oli
KATHMANDU, April 2: The main opposition Nepali Congress (NC) is preparing to file a no-confidence motion against Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.
During a meeting of the NC’s officer bearers, held at President Sher Bahadur Deuba’s residence in Budhanilkantha on Wednesday, The leaders of the party reached an agreement to register a no-confidence motion against Oli.
NC’s decision comes in the wake of the government's decision to prorogue the winter session of the House of Representatives (HoR) on April 19.
Leader Gopalman Shrestha, who also participated in the meeting, told Ratopati that the leaders agreed to file a no-confidence motion against the Oli government. Shrestha said, "The government prorogued the ongoing House session though a parliament meeting was scheduled for Wednesday. It goes against parliamentary norms and values."
He also shared that the party is unanimous in filing a no-confidence motion.
Earlier, the party leadership, which was not in the mood of going for a no-confidence motion, is now said to be ready to expedite the process. According to a high-level Nepali Congress source, President Sher Bahadur Deuba, during the Wednesday's meeting, said that he was ready to initiate for filing the no-confidence motion after analyzing the political developments of the past two or three days.
