Assistance to flood survivors for house construction
Ratnanagar (Chitwan) - The flood survivors of Bharatpur Metropolis ward 27 and 28 in west Chitwan have received Rs 400,000 from Japan for the construction of house.
Chitwan Society Japan handed over the assistance amount to the flood affected families amidst a programme on Saturday. The amount was collected from Nepali people residing in Japan.
The assistance programme was coordinated by Chitwan Youth Group International Coordination Committee. The assistance amount was provided for the construction of houses of flood-affected people in Bharatpur.
On the occasion, Deputy Mayor of Bharatpur Metropolis Parbati Shah extended thanks to the generous Nepali people in Japan who provided the support to the flood survivors.
International Coordination Committee Nepal Chairperson Mukti Prasad Adhikari said the first-phase support of Rs 400,000 will be channelized for the construction of houses for flood survivors and next round of support collected from other countries will be handed to the flood affected people of Madi in south Chitwan.
The floods that occurred on last July-August had caused more losses to the people of wards 13,23, 27 and 28 of Bharatpur Metropolis.
