Elderly person killed in road mishap

Itahari - An elderly person, who was injured in a road accident at Prakashpur Rajabas area of Baraha Municipality in Sunsari district on Wednesday, died this morning. 

The deceased has been Leelamaya Rai, 84, according to the District Police Office, Sunsari. The accident took place when a motorcycle (Ko 25 Pa 8843) hit Rai. Critically injured Rai died while undergoing treatment at Biratnagar-based Neuro Hospital, said police. 

Police have arrested the motorcyclist Satya Narayan Sharma, 48, of Bhokraha rural municipality and impounded the vehicle. 

Meanwhile, a convict Rajendra Mahato of Debagunj-3, has been remanded to custody today. The District Court, Sunsari, had slapped six year jail term to Mahato on the charge of his involvement in robbery in 2045 BS.
