Police, NC cadres clash; senior leader Poudel at police office

Kathmandu - Police persons and Nepali Congress cadres clashed each other at Damauli on Wednesday afternoon. The skirmish took place at the bridge of Buldi stream located between Byas Municipality Ward No 1 and 10 as the NC cadres tried to violate the prohibitory order issued since noon. The NC cadres led by senior leader Ramchandra Poudel, Mayor of Byas Municipality Baikuntha Neupane and others were moving ahead to inaugurate the bridge constructed over the Buldi stream.

As the police stopped them, the scuffle took place. The police had to fire tear gas shells to contain the protest. Senior leader Poudel has however been taken to safety at a nearby police office. The bridge consumers committee had organized a programme to inaugurate the bridge built under the infrastructures construction office, but the National Youth Association protested it since morning. Citing the possible confrontation, the District Administration Office issued the prohibitory order in the area.
