District hospital gets PCR machine

Kathmandu - The compulsion of sending swab samples outside the district for COVID-19 testing is going to come to an end. This has been possible after the Madhyabindu district hospital in Kawasoti, Nawapur received a PCR testing machine. Member of Parliament Tilak Mahat handed over the PCR machine to chairperson of the District Hospital Management Committee Gopal Khanal at a function held here on Saturday.

The machine was provided by the Ministry of Health. However, the service will be available only after a month. As necessary infrastructure and human resource will have to be managed, it will take a month for the COVID-18 RT-PCR test to come into operation, said Chief of the District Health Office, Nawalpur Keshav Prasad Chapagain. After the machine comes into operation, 400 samples can be tested in a day.
