With 4,047 new cases, Nepal’s coronavirus tally reaches 111,802

Kathmandu - The country recorded a total of 4,047 new cases of coronavirus infection out of 14,530 RT PCR testing in the past 24 hours, Spokesperson of the Ministry of Health and Population Dr Jageshwor Gautam said in a daily press briefing this afternoon. With the new cases recorded today, the country’s coronavirus tally reached 111,802.

Likewise, a total of 1,473 people got discharged in the last 24 hours. As per the latest information shared, Kathmandu district recorded 1,888 cases, Lalitpur 277 and Bhaktapur 118 cases in the past 24 hours. Gautam stated that the number of active cases in the country reached 33,880. Of them, altogether 19,957 people are in home isolation and 13,923 infected ones are in institutional isolation.

Likewise, the number of people in the quarantine facilities across the country crossed 4,800. On the occasion, Dr Gautam said that 279 infected ones are receiving treatment in ICU wards and 67 others are in ventilators in different hospitals across the country.

As per the information shared, Morang, Sunsari, Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur, Chitwan, Makawanpur, Banke, Rupandehi and Surkhet have more than 500 active cases each while Manang does not have a single active case. Dr Gautam said that nine persons including seven men succumbed to the virus in the past 24 hours.

With this, the number of deaths reached 645 as of Monday afternoon. The death rate from the coronavirus infection in Nepal is 0.58 per cent of the total infected cases, Spokesperson Dr Gautam shared.
