Home Minister’s secretariat dismisses media reports about destruction of paddy plantation

Kathmandu - The Secretariat of Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa has brushed off reports about the destruction of paddy plantation in course of distributing reliefs to landslide survivors at Ramaroshan in Achham district as baseless. A team led by the minister on Friday reached the landslide-hit area to distribute reliefs to the victims. No such activities of the destruction of paddy plantation was made along the local river banks in course of relief distribution, the secretariat clarified.

The secretariat also refuted conduction of a political programme in the area as the media reports claimed, on the occasion. The venue for the programme was chosen by the local administration and the respective rural municipality, said the minister's press coordinator Kiran Bhattarai. "We are committed to be additionally sensitive about such things in the days to come while embracing suggestions related to the programme organised in the incident site”, reads the statement.
