Distribution of water increases with increased production in Kathmandu Valley

Kathmandu - Distribution of water has been increased in the Kathmandu Valley with the increase in its production. Ninety million litres water is produced daily in the valley during the dry season. Water was supplied in a gap of nine days during the dry season. Now water is being supplied in interval of three or four days.

Similarly, water is being distributed according to its availability in public reservoir and tap. Production of water has increased in this season as water is also collected from other sources as well.

The Kathmandu Upatyaka Khanepani Limited (KUKL), the water utility body responsible for supply of water in the Valley, said some old tube wells have been repaired and some new ones installed this year, adding 20 million litres water daily.

"At present we are producing 170 million litres water on a daily basis. Production of water would be in excess due also to rainfall," KUKL executive director Milan Shakya said. KUKL has been collecting water from various sources and supplying it. The daily demand for water in the Valley is 400 million litres.
