NEA Kharipati building developed as isolation centre

Kathmandu - The quarantine developed for the first time in Bhaktapur, Kharipati now has turned into isolation centre.

The Nepal Electricity Authority Building is turned into isolation as it was developed as the quarantine while keeping Nepali students who were brought in the country from Wuhan of China in the wake of COVID-19 outbreak about six months ago.

The building now has been developed as 200-bed isolation centre. According to Bhaktapur District Hospital medical superintendent Dr Sumitra Gautam, Nepal Army, Birdal Battalion developed the building as the isolation centre following the government’s directives. The centre has brought 100 beds into operation these days.

She added that eight-beds were reserved for medical staffs while others for keeping suspected coronavirus cases. A seven-member medical team from Human Organ Transplant Centre and Bhaktapur Cancer Hospital is deputed there.
