Floods, landslides drive away 71 households in Myagde

Kathmandu - Seventy-one families were forced out of homes at Myagde rural municipality in Tanahu by the incidents of landslide and flood occurred on July 12 and 13 in Tanahu district. The natural disasters had its implications at all seven wards in the rural municipality. Rural municipality Chair Mayadevi Rana said seven families from Ward-1, 27 at Ward-2, eight from Ward-3, two from Ward-4, five from Ward-5, 14 each at Ward-6 and 7 have been displaced by the floods and landslides.

They are taking shelter at relatives' homes and the community buildings. The local government has reached out to the affected with relief assistance. Each family was given Rs 5,000 monetary assistance and daily essentials. During the first phase of relief distribution, 71 displaced families were provided the relief support and others affected would be included in the distribution gradually, said rural municipality Chief Administrative Officer Hariram Nagila.
