COVID-19: Death toll reaches 6 in Sudur Paschim

Kathmandu -One more person died of Corona Virus in Godavari municipality of Kailali district on Saturday, taking the death toll to six in Sudur Paschim State. A resident of ward no. 7 in the municipality, the 50-year-old man was undergoing treatment at the Cancer Hospital in Bharatpur, Chitwan, according to chief of State Health Division, Dr Narendra Singh Karki.

Prior to this, two people from Bajura and three from Kailali succumbed to the deadly virus. Meanwhile, 214 new cases were reported on Saturday. The tests were carried out in Kathmandu and Dhangadi. This takes the total number of people infected with Corona Virus in the State to 2,076, including 424 women. As of Saturday, 594 people have recovered from the virus.

So far, 125,293 samples have been collected for testing through RDT and PCR method in the State. Of them, only 16,935 samples were tested through PCR method. Testing facility in the State is only available at the Seti State Hospital in Dhangadi. The State government is in the final stage of setting up PCR laboratories in Doti and Baitedi districts, while one more will be added in Kailali, Dr Karki said.
