Gajurel elected Deputy General-Secretary of BRITA

Kathmandu - Nepal’s Ashish Gajurel has been elected deputy general-secretary of the Belt and Road International Transport Alliance (BRITA).The recently held general assembly elected Gajurel to the post. Gajurel has been advocating the cause of traffic management and transportation management in Nepal.

Participants from Switzerland, Greece, Nigeria, China, India, Belgium, Australia, Russia, South Africa and Nepal among other countries had participated in the virtual general assembly. BRITA, the international organization founded in 2018 in Beijing, China, oversees the Belt and Road related activities around the world. It has 170 members from 33 nations with member government and non-governmental organizations that are related road, transportation, physical infrastructures and automobiles among others.

Gajurel had presented country report on the general assembly during which he had said that Nepal had signed the Belt and Road Initiatives (BRI) in 2015 and had forwarded projects relating to the trans-Himalayan corridor. During the general assembly, a proposal was presented to build an international level transport and automobile institution in Nepal besides organizing at least one international conference.
