Yet another ex-British Gurkha soldier dies of coronavirus

Kathmandu - The COVID-19 pandemic has so far claimed the lives of 13 Nepalis here in Britain. The latest victim is 75-year-old Dhanbir Thapamagar, a former British Gurkha soldier from New Malden, London.

Thapamagar had been admitted to Kingston Hospital on Tuesday after suffering from breathing difficulties and also fever. He had been kept on ventilator support, said Bachaspati Regmi, president of Palpa District Society.

Originally hailing from Palpa of Nepal he had later shifted to Butwal. It is said he had been taking medicines for hypertension and an ailment related to the urinary bladder for long. Thapamagar had been staying with his wife in the United Kingdom since 2009. His elder child is in Nepal while his younger son is in Bahrain.
