Kala-azar patient found in Darchula

Kathmandu - Patients of Kala-azar have been found in Darchula, a district in the mountainous region with temperate climate. A person who came to the Darchula Hospital on Thursday seeking treatment tested positive for Kala-azar, Hospital's information officer Dambar Datta Joshi said.

It is said the 50-year-old man had been running fever for long. The patient has been referred to the Sudur Paschim Provincial Hospital Dhangadhi for treatment. It is surprising that tropical diseases like malaria and Kala-azar are also found in this mountainous districts.
