Medical care workers and security personnel also to be tested for COVID-19

Kathmandu - The Ministry of Health and Population is to examine the health of health workers and the security personnel involved in COVID-19 prevention and control as well. The Ministry, in a notice on Thursday, stated that the the health workers and security personnel assigned in the COVID-19 treatment, diagnosis and control campaign would also be subjected to rapid diagnostic test (RDT).

Ministry spokesperson Dr Bikas Devkota stated that RDT would be conducted on all people coming from abroad in the month of Chaita. The Ministry stated that all those staying in quarantine for more than 14 days would also be tested for coronavirus again. A lockdown is in effect throughout the country since March 24 to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Coronavirus infection has been found in 16 people so far in the country. It is said Nepal has entered what is called the second phase of COVID-19 pandemic. In response, the government has extended the shutdown till April 29.
