COVID-19 sample test in 52 districts

Kathmandu - The government has started test for COVID-19 in 52 districts. Spokesperson at the Ministry of Health and Population, Dr Bikas Devkota said that coronavirus is being tested in 52 districts through two methods—Real Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR)and Rapid Diagnostic Test.

The test is now being carried out at 11 places across the nation through PCR and the test would be carried out through PCR method in remaining district soon, according to Dr Devkota. The coronavirus test of 10,982 people was carried out through both methods. A total of 411 people underwent coronavirus test in Kathmandu and108 out of the Kathmandu Valley today itself.

He shared information that 59 people of Chhapkaiya tole of Parsa district underwent COVID-19 test from rapid method by keeping them in quarantine for 14 days and all the people tested negative. Two more individuals tested positive for coronavirus infection on Monday. A 65-year-old woman of Lamki municipality of Kailali district and 19-year-old person of Rautahat district tested positive for the COVID-19.

Devkota further said that the woman has been taken to Sudur Paschim State Hospital for treatment while preparation was underway to take the coronavirus infected person of Rautahat to hospital. With the latest cases, the total number of coronavirus infected has reached 14 in Nepal.
