Nepal ITF Senior Championship begins in Pokhara
Pokhara - Nepal ITF Senior Championship, organised by Kaski District Tennis Association, has begun here from today.
A total of 90 players from Nepal, Finland and India have been participating in the Championship.
Inaugurating the championship here today, Minister for Youth and Sports, Rajan KC, said that the government has put the sport sector in top priority.
Minister KC said that the government was engaged to produce professional players in the country by developing the sports sector.
Saying there was immense possibility of sports tourism development in Pokhara, he said that support and collaboration among government, industrialists and social workers was necessary for sports development.
The Minister said, "We have a plan to develop Pokhara as the centre of sports", adding it has already been scheduled to organise six games under South Asian Games in Pokhara.
He also shared the information that the government has been making preparation for the establishment of High Altitude Training Centre with an objective of developing sports sector.
Chairperson of Nepal Lawn Tennis Association, Jyoti Rana, said that there was immense possibility of lawn tennis in Nepal.
