Construction of house for squatters begins

Chitwan–Chitwan's Ichhakamana rural municipality is set to construct cemented house for landless squatters. The rural municipality is mulling for the construction of houses for 46 landless families in Ichhakamana-7, Bhalumara Sundarbasti.

Rural municipality chair Geeta Kumari Guruing laid a foundation stone of the houses amidst a programme on Wednesday. On the occasion, she said the rural municipality is constructing the houses for those who have been surviving their lives in huts.

The plan is to construct an integrated settlement by constructing houses with toilet and drinking water facilities, she noted, adding the rural municipality has come up with the move for guaranteeing every citizen's right to safe shelter.

According to ward 7 chair Bam Bahadur Thapa, 35 among 46 households in the settlement are from Chepang community while others are from Dalit and Tamang communities.
