Humla accident injured rescued after 20 hours

Simkot–People who were injured when a tipper met with an accident at Namkha of Humla district on Wednesday have been rescued today, 20 hours after the mishap. They were rescued by a Nepal Army helicopter and taken to Nepalgunj for further treatment.

Thirteen people were injured in the accident and one of the injured, Bakta Rokaya of Simkot rural municipality-6, died at the district hospital. With this, the death toll in the Simkot truck accident has reached four.

Police said the accident that took place when a tipper truck skidded off the road and fell approximately 30 meters at Lagradanda of Simkot rural municipality in Humla district on Wednesday evening.

The ill-fated truck (Lu 4 Kha 3269) carrying rice and other necessities supplied by the Nepal Food Corporation was headed to the district headquarters, Simkot.

Most of the injured are in serious condition, are receiving treatment at the district hospital, said the police.
