Baitadi–The Dogadakedar rural municipality is to present the "Rural Municipality Vice-chair's Gift" to the new mothers. The rural municipality health coordinator Narendra Nath said 425 new mothers within the rural municipality would be benefited from this.
The rural municipality has brought this scheme for augmenting to child and maternal health and nutrition. According to Nath, every health facility in the rural municipality will provide the Rural Municipality Vice-chair's Gift to the new mothers.
The rural municipality has allocated Rs 420,000 for this purpose. The Rural Municipality Vice-chair's Gift comprises lentil, cooking oil, ajwain seed, sanitary pad, soap, nail cutter, soda, among other things, Parbati Karki, the vice-chair of the rural municipality, said.
The rural municipality believes that this programme will encourage the expectant and pregnant women to deliver at the health facilities instead of at homes.
Meanwhile, two rural municipality wards in Dogadakedar will be declared as the wards with full nutrition status within this fiscal year. These wards are Ward number 4 and 5.
