Ward chair arrested on charge of beating counterpart

Okhaldhunga–The police have arrested ward chair of Champadevi rural municipality-8 in the district on charge of beating his counterpart. Ajaya Luitel has been accused of beating up Suresh Thapa, ward chair of the rural municipality-7.

The latest incident of attack took place on July 15 wherein Luitel attacked Thapa at latter's office under the influence of alcohol, according to a complaint registered with the police by Thapa.

Luitel had repeatedly issued threats to Thapa in the past too, said the complaint. The police, acting on the complaint, held Luitel from the district headquarters on Sunday evening, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Pushpa Raj Malla, adding that investigations were on.
