NSU demands pesticide testing of Indian veggies and fruits

Kathmandu–Nepal Students Union (NSU) has demanded testing pesticide residue used in vegetables and fruits imported from India.

Protesting government's decision of revoking the testing of pesticide on India-imported vegetables and fruits, the NSU today demonstrated in front of Tri Chandra College.

On the occasion, Deepak Bhattarai of NSU said that no one should cause harm to people's health to make foreigners happy.

He blamed, "The government has tried to reduce life-span of the people by bringing fruits and vegetables without conducting tests for pesticide residue."

Similarly, Kalpana Khadka, RC Bhattarai, Sunita Pokharel, Manoj Baidya, among other student leaders stressed that the government should correct its decision immediately as the government has been committing negligence on people's health by allowing the entry of the Indian vegetables and fruits without testing for pesticides.
