KATHMANDU, December 5: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba-led faction of Nepali Congress has stood victorious in Sudurpaschim and Karnali Province.

Bir Bahadur Balayer and Lalitajung Shahi were elected the President of Sudurpaschim Province and Karnali Province of the party respectively.

Likewise, Janak Raj Chaudhary and Lok Raj Awasthi have been elected in the post of the Vice-President, Narayan Shah and Meghraj Khadka in the post General Secretary, Gopal Dutt Bhatta, Chinta Mani Bhatta and Ambika Kumari Chalaune in the post of Deputy-General Secretary of Sudurpaschim Province of the party. All these leaders are considered close to the Deuba-led faction of NC.

Similarly, Kali Bahadur Sahakari and Santa Kumari Karki have won the election for the post of Vice-President of Karnali Province of the party. Likewise, Niranjan KC and Krishna Kumar Rokaya were victorious for the post of General Secretary and Upendra Bahadur Thapa, Ek Raj Dandi and Ram Chaya Kumari Shahi for the post of Deputy-General secretary of the party for the Province.

In Gandaki Province, Shukraraj Sharma, leader considered close to the Ram Chandra Prasad Poudel-led faction of NC, has been elected the President of the party. 

Likewise, Kalpana Tiwari and Meklal Shrestha have been elected the Vice-President of the party for the Province. Tiwari is considered close to the Poudel-led faction while Shrestha is considered close to the Deuba-led faction. 

Similarly, Vishnu Lamichhane and Kiran Babu Shrestha have been elected in the post of General Secretary while Ram Chandra Joshi, Ramesh Pandey and Kopila Ranabhat have been elected in the post of Deputy-General Secretary of the party for the Province.

In Province 1 and Lumbini Province, the vote count is currently underway and a re-election is being held for the post of NC’s Bagmati Province President.
