Rabi Lamichhane vows to recover victims' savings if granted release
Pokhara, January 9 — In the ongoing embezzlement case involving the Pokhara-based Suryadarshan Co-operative, Rashtriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane has assured that he will make efforts to recover the savings of the victims.
Lamichhane, one of the accused, appeared in Kaski District Court where the case's defendants were given an opportunity to present their arguments.
Lamichhane, responding to the allegations, said, “I will make efforts to bring back the victims' savings. I have never misused power, even when I held the position of the Home Minister, and I am not in a position to misuse power now either.”
The court hearing is ongoing, and Lamichhane further claimed that his party, RSP, is a responsible political entity in Nepal. He highlighted that the Parliamentary Inquiry Committee had incorporated a 55-page report submitted by his party.
The court proceedings are under strict security, with minimal public presence, and the ruling is expected soon.
The case involves the embezzlement of funds from the cooperative, with multiple accused individuals facing charges, including Lamichhane, who also faces allegations of organized crime and money laundering.
