Baglung Municipality Doubles Newborn Daughter Savings Account Deposit

Baglung. Baglung Municipality has announced that it will open a fixed deposit account of Rs 10,000 in the name of a newborn daughter as a gift. Under the 'Daughter of the City' program, which has been in operation since the fiscal year 2080/81, Rs 5,000 was provided, and from the upcoming fiscal year, the amount has been doubled.

The municipality mayor Basant Kumar Shrestha informed that the decision was passed by the recent municipal assembly and that a bank account of the said amount will be opened in the name of every daughter born in his municipality.

So far, Rs 1.5 million has been deposited at the rate of Rs 5,000 in the names of 300 daughters. The amount deposited in the account cannot be withdrawn until the daughter reaches the age of 20 years.
