Home Minister Sudhan Gurung Emphasizes Prevention in Drug Control

Kathmandu. Home Minister Sudhan Gurung has said that prevention is the best option for drug control. Speaking at a meeting of the State Management and Good Governance Committee on Thursday, Home Minister Gurung said that a special reform plan is being brought for it. 

Presenting data that cannabis goes from Nepal to India and chemical drugs come from India to Nepal, Home Minister Gurung said that strictness will be increased in the border areas. 

‘We have planned to conduct joint operations with India’s SSB and special units there,’ he said, ‘We need to stop the source by increasing cross-border patrolling and surveillance.’

Responding to the issues raised by the MPs about call centers and including anti-drug materials in the school curriculum, Minister Gurung agreed. He emphasized the need to increase investment in education and awareness, stating that if the curiosity in children is not addressed properly, it will lead to accidents.
