Rabi Lamichhane's detention hearing inconclusive, to resume Wednesday

Kathmandu, January 13 — The detention hearing for Rabi Lamichhane, president of the Rashtriya Swatantra Party (RSP), did not conclude today at the Kathmandu District Court.

The hearing has been deferred for further consideration at a later time.

The court proceedings on his detention, which are related to the ongoing investigation of cooperative fraud, will continue after the adjournment.

Today, two lawyers representing Rabi Lamichhane and nine government lawyers presented their arguments before Judge Madhav Prasad Adhikari at the Kathmandu District Court.

Senior advocates Surendra Bhandari and Dinesh Tripathi represented Lamichhane in the debate.

On the government side, the prosecution team, including District Attorney Khadindra Raj Katwal, Chandra Sanjel, Santosh Raj Katwal, Radhika Suwal, and Bina Khadka, also made their arguments.

However, due to time constraints, the debate was not concluded, and the case has been postponed for further consideration.

As tomorrow is a public holiday, the next hearing will take place on Wednesday. Until then, Lamichhane will remain in judicial custody.

Lamichhane appeared in court on Sunday after an indictment was filed against him for embezzling funds from Swarnalakshmi Multi-purpose Cooperative.
