Snowfall expected in high altitudes as weather changes across Nepal

Kathmandu, December 26 — The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has forecasted that the weather will change in many parts of Nepal from Friday afternoon to Saturday.

On Thursday, the department issued a special bulletin stating that due to a western low-pressure system, there is a possibility of partial to moderate cloud cover in many places of Nepal starting from Friday evening.

The department further mentioned that, due to this system, there is a chance of light to moderate snowfall in the high hills and mountainous regions of the far-western and Karnali provinces, as well as some high hill and mountainous areas in the Gandaki, Bagmati, and Koshi provinces by Saturday.

Additionally, light to moderate rainfall is expected in many places of the far-western and Karnali provinces and some areas of the Lumbini province, while light rainfall is likely in a few places of the Gandaki, Bagmati, Madhes, and Koshi provinces.

The department also cautioned that this weather system might cause a decrease in temperature, leading to a potential increase in cold weather conditions.
