Pokhara prepares for second Dragon Boat Festival (photos)
Pokhara, December 24 — In preparation for the upcoming second Dragon Boat Festival to be held on December 29 and 30, participating teams are conducting practice sessions at Phewa Lake in Pokhara.
The second edition of the Dragon Boat competition will feature 20 teams, including 11 from Nepal, 8 from China, and 1 from Singapore.
The competition will take place in two distances: 200 meters and 500 meters. The winner of each category will receive a prize of $5,000, the runner-up will get $2,000, and the third place will earn $1,200.
Additionally, the remaining 17 participating teams will each be awarded $500.
The festival is being organized with the aim of promoting Nepal's tourism, jointly by the Gandaki Provincial Government, Pokhara Metropolitan City, the Chinese Embassy in Nepal, and the Nepal Tourism Board, with co-organization by the Nepal Dragon Boat Association, Pokhara Tourism Council, and Pokhara Overseas Chinese Association.
