PAC Chair Pokharel responds to allegations, vows to uphold legal process

Kathmandu, December 23 — The Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee, Rishikesh Pokharel, has stated that he is ready to face any examination. While responding to questions raised by MPs at the committee's meeting on Monday, he expressed his belief in the law.

During the meeting, CPN (Maoist Center) MP Amanlal Modi demanded that Chairman Pokharel answer questions regarding the involvement of his wife, Anjala Koirala, in the misappropriation of funds at the Umagauri Agricultural Cooperative.

Similarly, UML MP Yogesh Bhattarai also stated that the chairman should respond to the issue that has been raised.

In response, Chairman Pokhrel said, "The issue regarding me has been raised. It is under legal process. I am ready to face any examination. I believe in the law."

At the meeting, UML MP Gokul Baskota and Congress MP Rajendra KC defended Chairman Pokharel.

Furthermore, Chairman Pokharel raised a question about how the 145th meeting of the committee could take place, in response to the claim that no meeting had been held.

In reply to Maoist MP Modi, Chairman Pokharel stated that he would respect the party's decision and agreement.
