CPN (US) Standing Committee meeting: Chairman Nepal and General Secretary Bhusal admitted to weaknesses
Kathmandu, December 17 — Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal and General Secretary Ghanshyam Bhusal admitted to weaknesses in failing to divide responsibilities five months after the party’s convention at the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Socialist) Standing Committee meeting.
During the meeting, committee members questioned the leadership for not implementing the division of responsibilities even after five months, leading Nepal and Bhusal to offer self-criticism.
Several members raised concerns, asking why the party was held "hostage" without a division of responsibilities despite the hurried convention in June.
In response, Chairman Nepal explained that delays were due to weather, floods, landslides, and festivals, which hindered the timely allocation of tasks and organizing public programs.
Both Nepal and Bhusal acknowledged their shortcomings, promising immediate action on the task division and public outreach.
They also discussed the need to review the party's organizational strategy and the failure to establish a clear party identity due to issues like not fielding candidates in all constituencies and relying on coalitions during elections.
