Man arrested for dumping woman's body

Kathmandu, November 24 — A young man has been arrested by the police for allegedly carrying the dead body of a woman in Kalimati, Kathmandu. The arrested individual has been identified as 22-year-old Kavindra Bohara, a resident of Bajhang.

On November 22, the body of 45-year-old Januka Surkheti from Udaypur was found on the Sangit Marga in Kalimati. During the investigation, it was revealed that the young man had carried her body on his shoulder and dumped it on the road, according to SSP Sanuram Bhattarai of the Valley Crime Investigation Office. He stated, "Through the use of technology, we found that the body was carried and discarded, so we arrested him and are continuing the investigation."

The young man is reportedly a drug user and has confessed to carrying and discarding the body. SSP Bhattarai informed that an investigation is ongoing under charges related to homicide, with a 4-day remand for the accused.

The deceased was reportedly living on the streets. As her trouser was found to be open, there is suspicion that the young man may have raped and then murdered her. However, investigators have stated that no visible injuries were found on her body, so there is no conclusive evidence to confirm the murder. The accused has denied the murder allegations.
