Nepali businessmen receive threatening calls in Indian gangster Bishnoi's name

Kathmandu, November 20 — The Nepal Police has revealed that threatening phone calls are being made to Nepali businessmen in the name of Indian gangster Lawrence Bishnoi.

Six individuals, including bankers and other entrepreneurs, have filed complaints with the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) regarding these calls. Preliminary investigations by CIB reveal that the calls originated from India and Dubai.

According to AIG Deepak Thapa, 141 calls were traced from India alone. The callers claim to be members of the "Lawrence Gang" and demand financial support for Durga Prasain, stating that he is fighting to protect Hinduism.

They threaten businessmen by saying they have detailed personal information about them and insist on financial aid, failing which they could face harm.

Some audio recordings reveal the callers asking bankers and members of the Marwari community to apologize to Prasain.

The investigation has also identified calls originating from Dubai, and efforts are underway to trace them.

Lawrence Bishnoi, who is currently in India’s high-security Tihar Jail, faces charges of extortion and murder and has previously issued death threats against Bollywood actor Salman Khan.

CIB SP Hobindra Bogati stated that Nepal police are coordinating with Indian authorities to investigate the involvement of Bishnoi's gang in threatening Nepali businessmen.
