Kathmandu, November 15 — President Ram Chandra Paudel has returned to Nepal after participating in the United Nations Climate Change Conference COP-29, held in Baku, Azerbaijan.

Led by President Paudel, the Nepali delegation departed for Baku on November 10 at the invitation of Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev.

After attending the conference, President Paudel and his delegation arrived back in Nepal on Friday morning, via Doha, Qatar. They were warmly received at Tribhuvan International Airport by the Vice President, Prime Minister, Speaker, Chair of the National Assembly, Deputy Speaker, and other high-ranking officials.

During the high-level session of COP-29 on Tuesday, President Paudel addressed the "World Leaders' Climate Action Summit," urging the global community to recognize that the security of the Himalayas is integral to the security of the planet.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Amrit Bahadur Rai briefed about President Paudel's visit to Azerbaijan at Tribhuvan International Airport.

In his address, President Paudel highlighted that while Nepal contributes minimally to carbon emissions, the country is still facing the adverse effects of climate change, including the transformation of the white Himalayas into black mountains.

President Paudel also raised the issue of climate-induced disasters affecting Nepal, according to the Foreign Ministry.
