Three injured in Darchula jeep accident airlifted to Dhangadhi for treatment (Update)

Khalanga, November 15 — Three people injured in a jeep accident in Darchula have been airlifted to Kailali's Dhangadhi for treatment by a Nepal Army helicopter. The injured include jeep driver Sunil Joshi from Malikarjun Rural Municipality-8 in Darchula, Sandeep Rawal from Shailyashikhar-5, and Uttam Rokaya from Dilasaini Rural Municipality-5 in Baitadi.

They have been admitted to Seti Provincial Hospital, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Prakash Dahal.

The jeep accident occurred this morning in Bagjebala, Shailyashikhar Municipality-6. The jeep, bearing the registration number MA1JA 338, was heading towards Gokuleshwar from Malikarjun. Eight passengers who were traveling in the vehicle died in the accident. The jeep was carrying pilgrims returning after visiting the local Malikarjun Temple festival.

The deceased include 30-year-old Birendra Rawal and 28-year-old Shanti Rawal from Lakegaun, Shailyashikhar-5, 45-year-old Dilip Bista from Nakhtad, Shailyashikhar-9, 15-year-old Sanjib Bohora from Dilasaini-5 in Baitadi, and 45-year-old Mohammad Safir and 18-year-old Mohammad Wasim from Bijnor, Uttar Pradesh, India.

Also among the deceased were 35-year-old Mina Lekhak from Gokule, Shailyashikhar-9, and Birendra Singh Bohora from Dilasaini-5.

Dilip Bista, who was among the deceased, was a teacher and writer at Gokuleshwar Multiple Campus, and his wife, who also perished in the accident, was the campus's accountant. Birendra and Shanti were husband and wife. Birendra was employed as an overseer in Shailyashikhar Municipality. 

The other injured are being treated at the Gokuleshwar Primary Health Center, as per the police report.
