A truck caught fire in Dang, driver suffered minor burns

Butwal: A fire erupted in a truck on the East-West Highway near Lamahi in Dang district. According to police, the truck, registered as Suppr 01-001 B 3337, was en route from Mahendranagar to Lamahi when it caught fire and was completely destroyed.

District Police Chief SP Ram Bahadur KC reported that the blaze started in a forested area near Lamahi Municipality-9, Chaukhola. 

SP KC informed Ratopati that the driver, Ramesh Dutt Joshi, 38, from Krishnanagar Municipality-2 in Kanchanpur district, sustained minor injuries while attempting to extinguish the fire. The truck, which was empty and intended to transport cement, had three occupants including the driver. 

Joshi suffered minor burns to his hand. The fire was eventually brought under control with assistance from the Lamahi Municipality fire brigade and police.

The driver has been arrested and an investigation into the incident is underway, according to police sources.
