Koshi Province’s CM Karki sworn in
KATHMANDU, Sep 8: The newly-appointed Chief Minister of the Koshi Province Hikmat Kumar Karki has taken the oath of office and secrecy. Provincial Chief Parshuram Khapung appointed Karki as the Chief Minister as well as administered the oath to Karki.
On Thursday, the Supreme Court dismissed Uddhav Thapa from the position of the Koshi Province’s Chief Minister and issued a mandate to appoint Karki as Chief Minister within 48 hours. As per Article 168 (3) of the Constitution, Karki was appointed as the Chief Minister for the second time as the leader of the largest party in the Provincial Assembly after Thapa was relieved from the position.
The newly appointed Chief Minister Karki has prepared for the expansion of the Cabinet to a five-member Cabinet today itself. According to the chief whip of UML Rewati Rawan Bhandari, Til Kumar Minyangbo will be appointed as the Energy and Irrigation Minister, Ekraj Karki as the Physical Infrastructure Development Minister, Panchkarna Rai as the Forest Minister and Sirjana Rai as the Social Development State Minister.
